"Do Whatever You Want"

A portion of our Sunday School discussion this week centered on the question of understanding God ‘s will. Our text (I Samuel 22 - 23) pointed out that discerning God’s will was as difficult for David as it often is for us. We discussed whether we should inquire of the Lord in all our decisions, or just the big ones? Also, since we don’t have any "Ephods" hanging around, how does God speak his will to us today?

We had a very practical and thought provoking discussion. Sunday School speaks to where we are in life. I whole heartedly encourage you to become involved a Sunday School small group. We have the best classes and best teachers anywhere.

John MacArthur, Jr writes that "God's will is that you be saved, Spirit-filled, sanctified, submissive, and suffering. God's Word makes all this clear. Do not read on until you have grasped these five principles."

He then states that the next principle of God’s will is, Do whatever you want! "If those five elements of God's will are operating in your life, who is running your wants? God is! The Psalmist said, "Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart" (Ps. 37:4). If you are living a godly life, He will give you the right desires."

If you want to..., join us this Sunday as we continue to address the difficulty of safely and adequately discerning God’s will with a look at I Samuel 24 and 26.

See You in Sunday School!

We Labor together with God,
