"Our Limited Perspective"
My good friend Sam Foskey recently made this post to his Facebook account. "Although at times it may seem that the world has never had problems worse than it has now, actually we who are alive today have a limited perspective. There have always been problems. We can't always live like we're in some interim period and that we'll REALLY start living when the world gets better. If... we don't begin living NOW, we never will." I dread turning the news on and listening to all the ills that seem to be plaguing our world right now. From this perspective it seems as if these are truly "the last days". However I am sure that every preceding generation has uttered these words and pondered these same thoughts. And .. life continues to journey forward. The myth of Christianity is that somehow our relationship with God through Jesus exempts us from life’s realities, or at the very least, gives us a special "in" with God that will at least lessen the pain and impact of life’s storms . Not so! The promise of Christianity is that God is present with us in the midst of these days and storms. Rather than being anxious over them, the promise of Christianity is that if we pray about them, the peace of God that surpasses all human understanding with guard our hearts and minds as we live in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7) Are you living in Jesus? Therefore rejoice, be glad and start living NOW for this is the day that the Lord has made! Thank you Sam, for helping us keep life in perspective! We Labor together with God, |
