"It's That Important"

I know this is the time to look ahead into the new year of 2010. After all this new decade is already off to a fast start. However, please allow me one last indulgence as I look back on 2009. Simply, I want to remark on the Sunday School Christmas parties. I was able to attend several and heard good reports from the rest of them.

Sunday School small groups are so important. They are small enough so we can get to know each other on a deeper level. Yet large enough so we don’t feel uncomfortable. The natural size of an effective small group is an average of about ten to twelve. Which is about the average size of almost all of our Sunday School classes. (Which means ... ) It was easy for me to pick up on the camaraderie present in each class. I could tell, you really enjoy each other’s friendship!

Also indulge me this thought. I deeply believe that all of us at Walnut Street Baptist Church should be a part of a small group Sunday School class, whether we attend Sunday School or not! My suggestion and prayer is that everyone enroll in a Sunday School class. I know some cringe at my statement and like to cull the enrollment to only include those who regularly attend. Again, it is my deeply held conviction that we should enroll as many folks as possible in a small group Sunday School class. At the very least it provides opportunity to minster to one another on a deeper level, to pray more specifically for the needs one another, and enjoy the fellowship and presence of one another. Attending bible study together on Sunday morning is the icing on the cake.

Call the church office, contact your deacon, send me an email, or give me a call and we will be glad to enroll you in a small group Sunday School class whether you can attend or not! I believe that the benefit for everyone, of belonging to a small group Sunday School class is THAT important!

Hmm, maybe this is an article for the new year after all.

We Labopr Together With God,
